Jake

So the dog thing. You don't know much about my dogs as of now which makes m think I should start the next three Fridays with intros about them. Today is all about Jake. He is the biggest of the three weighing in at a whooping 85 pounds. He is pure bred but no one has seemed to have heard of his breed of dogs. He is a Mountain Cur which is bred to hunt bears but you wouldn't know it to look at him. He might not be very small but his heart is very well matched with his size. He might not be the bravest one of the bunch( that would be Katy. You'll meet her next week)but he really does have a heart as gold as his fur. That's not to say he doesn't have his flaws though. He is loving to the point of bubble invasion. If he wants you to look at him or pet him he makes sure there is no possible way you could not see him. He will make sure he's heard and that you don't ignore him. Its cute when you're just relaxing and not very busy but its not so cute if you're really tired or trying to get homework done. But I do love my dog. He was originally bought for me when i was about nine. We had gotten our first dog about three years before and i wanted another puppy so I begged for weeks and weeks. Finally my parents did something they rarely ever do, they gave in!! so about two weeks later my dad came home with a happy healthy bouncy ix week old puppy with huge feet and floppy ears(which now don't flop so much). I was so happy that we finally got another puppy! And he was a good pick. Hes a solid part of my family and a protector of the house we live in.I would trade him for anything.

Dogs today

So I feel like my blog can be a little monotonous and with that said I have decided every Friday( or every other, still not sure yet) I will write a little something about one of my three dogs. They all are very different when it comes to size, shape and color. But the one thing they have in common is my heart <3 :) . I love my dogs and they can be so so funny sometimes. Lets hope this goes well!

Analogy Poetry

This kind of poetry sounds like its going to be a challenge. Analogy poetry is relating two or more things in a poem that are otherwise unalike. Like relating a balloon and a horse. They have nothing in common but you could relate riding a horse to being lifted away by a balloon. A good poem to read is Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost. Anyhow, I like the style, the only trouble I can see is trying to write them. Lets hope they turn out alright!

You

I cannot fly.

I cannot run or jump.

I have no special places to take you.

You couldn't pick me out in a crowd.

But I know you.

I know how you are.

I know what you do because I do it too.

I am just like you.

Except you don't notice me.

I would ask you why but now I see.

Its not that I can't compare to you but you can't compare to me.

So I'll keep watching.

Sad as it may be.

I know we would be friends but you won't notice me.

The Best

The mirror is no friend of mine.

It tells me lies and makes up stories that aren't true.

It makes me cry sometimes when I'm alone.

But you show up just when I need you.

It's a good thing I have you around.

You tell me no lies.

You keep a smile on my face.

You show me how to look in the mirror again

and see whats really there.

You are the best.

And best of all,you are my best friend.

Lost Girl

Lost little girl, alone, wearing a black dress.
Where did you come from?

Can I take you back there?
You don't belong here and the sun is setting.
When it is dark, the beasts roam the streets and they will take you away.
They will take you back to where they live and make you like them.
You are so pretty, lost little girl.

You shouldn't ruin your dress.

Let me help you find your way home
.

Blank Verse

So I found this really cool web site that has a bunch of different poetry types on it and I really like it. The site is http://www.types-of-poertry.org if you want to look this up. I think it's where I'll be getting most of my ideas for types of poems. Some are actually pretty funny. The one I'm starting with is probably the most popular types of poetry written and read. It's called blank verse. It's a poem that is whatever you want it to be. It is written in an unrhymed, unlyrical pattern. It doesn't have a specific length. And, funny fact, this is the way William Shakespear wrote most of his plays.

Decision

So I've decided I'm going to write different types of poetry for the next few weeks, or maybe months. I can have an over view of what each poem entails and how it is written then write a few of my own. I know I haven't put much of my own photos on the blog but I have a few I'm going to try t get on here today. I'm going to start the whole new poem types today too so this should be interesting. Tell me what you think, if its good or not. Maybe you could even suggest your own favorite type of poetry! :)
