You Always Lied

Break away from all of this conformity.

Break away from all the lies.

Break away from the hatefulness you carry with you.

Break away from all your half hearted tries.

You never really meant to be helpful.

You never really meant to be kind.

You never wanted to be in my life,

So lets slightly rewind.

You tore apart my family

and stole my childhood from me.

I put all my faith in you.

But in return you gave me deceit.

I am not angry anymore.

But now I know one thing.

When you give someone your word

It really means something.

I will give you my word.

I cannot love someone like you.

And I guess in the end,

It means we really are through.

Dogs and the Snow

So I hate I mean really hate the cold. It makes me achy and stiff but for some reason my dogs love it. Well for a little while. Jake loves the snow. He could stay in it for hours, but Katy only likes it for a little while. A few days ago I took them both outside and when I tried to bring them back in Katy decided her feet were too cold to function anymore. She just stood where she was and would pick up a different foot every few seconds. No matter how much I would call her she just stood there. So I had to push her along in the yard to get her up to the house. But when we got inside she just laid down right in front of the door because her feet were still apparently too cold to walk. So I actually had to warm her feet up with a towel! I couldn't believe it. She likes it enough to bury her face in but apparently it's not OK for her little feet to be cold. I don't understand her some days.

Support our troops

Ok I just made a card for some soldier I don't know over seas amd it made my day. It was a very humbling experience because I realize that while I will be at home with my family this Christmas some people won't. I guess it showed me what I really do have to be grateful for. The Lion and the Me

Though I may seem small like a a flower petal,
I assure you my fragrance is strong.
I can hold my own ground.
And I know just where I belong.

You may be a lion
But you're the one with the thorn in your shoe.
And with out people like me,
without the mouse the lion doesn't know what to do.

So call me small call me weak.
But who really needs who?
I can fix my own problems
You're the one who doesn't know what to do.

So be a lion and roar,
but the one thing you should always know,
is to remember me the mouse
who pulled that thorn out of your toe.

Conceit poetry

So this type of poetry uses metaphors and similes to descibe the subject of the poem. That is pretty self explanitory. I'll see if I can post one tomorrow :)

A Prideful Man's Daughter

A prideful man was here today.
He left his footprints in concrete.
Although he thought he was making his own way ,
he was also making a way for me.

The places he went were filled with sadness
and the stench of an angry heart was always around.
His rage filled life allowed other unhapy men to feed off of this.
The poor man assumed what was lost could never again be found.

Now that man is sitting in his only chair.
He waits in pain for the new day to come.
He lives recklessly and with out a care,
just chasing an empty life with each new rising sun.

I am this pitiful man's daughter you see,
so everything he does and every mistake he makes will effect me.

Picture Day

So I haven't had much along the lines of photography on my blog but today I found a photographer whose pictures I really like. The pictures he takes seem to be of his daughters but he edits them in some pretty crazy ways. Check out the link below to see them and read a little bit about the artist.

Songs

I write a little song.
It sounds like little singing birds.
You could sing along.
You don't have to get it right as long as you are heard.

A voice is like an ocean.
It has so many faces.
It can be calm and suddenly set in an angry motion.
One voice can fill up a million spaces.

The only thing worse then an angry voice is silence.
It can change our whole lives.
It can change peace into violence.
It can make lives struggle where they would once thrive.

So please sing this song loudly.
If you don't do it for you, do it for me.

Sunset

The sun has set
and the skies are fading.
Time is racing by
and those who were young are aging.

As a young man sits on the ocean side
he watches his life passing by.
And with a smile he laughs all the while
because he was living on the inside.

But the longer he sat
the older he grew.
He did his best
even if no one knew.

But he knew who he really was
and what a life really means.
He knew what it is to love
and how big dreams can be.

So as that sun set
his breath was now the breeze.
He lived a life to be proud of
so this night he could be at ease.

This is about the last night of a mans life and how he is reflecting on the way he has lived. It is also about living a life to be proud of and not living acording to anyone elses standards.

The Hole

I am all alone in this dark hole.
I sit and wait to be liberated.
But all the more I scream and yell
that I wish to be heavily sedated.

I am not myself anymore.
The beasts have made me something so vile.
I see the path I have taken,
and I cry all the while.

I see the things that I have done,
that put me in this dismal place.
And when I look at the muddy pool of water on the ground
I can barely recognize my own saddened weather worn face.

It has been blackened by the lies
and has been aged by the pain.
If I could go back I would
and I would do it over again.

I would shun the beasts that lured me here,
with their promises of love and happiness.
I would take a candle next time I went in the dark,
so I could really see which road is best.

But alas I can't change what has happened.
I can not revisit the past.
I can not sew up the wounds I have scourged
and I can not go back and wait for the beasts to take off their masks.

This was my most precious gift.
The life I was given on my very first day.
Why was I so foolish?
Why did I just waste it away?

Ok this poem is sort of about peer pressure and sort of about wasting your life doing things that are foolish or self destructive. The "beasts" are people in your life that try to get you to do things that you know are wrong whether that be morally or legally and the hole is the guilt and shame you can feel after you do those things.

Allegory

An allegory is a poem that uses a metaphor to talk about something. Allegories use symbolism to talk about something else. They are really neat because someone could interpret them anyway they wanted and each poem could mean something different to each person who reads it.

Dog days

So its Friday once again. And my dogs are still pretty crazy. Katy got a bath yesterday. Everything looked like it was ready to go then I realized, I didn't have a cup! I was searching frantically in my bathroom but it was of no avail.I couldn't leave the bathroom because Katy hates water and will jump out so I decided to get creative. My mouth wash bottle was pretty much empty, like only about two ounces empty so I dashed into my room, which is connected tp my bathroom so she was never put of sight, and grabbed a pair of scissors. I washed it out very well so she didn't get any alcohol residue on her skin and cut off the top nzzle of the bottle. And with my luck it worked very well. It was three times the size of a normal cup so she was clean in half the time it normally takes. Now she is clean and smells like vanilla( we only use dog shampoo on our dogs. I didn't use the shampoo we use on her. Its actually oatmeal shampoo for dogs that smells like vanilla.).

Mike Posner

Ok so this is his most famous song right now that has been released. Its called Cooler Then Me. I really like it but I guess we each have our own taste in music. It does have one swear word in it so if that offends you don't watch the video. It is only said once or twice and its nothing my grandmother wouldn't say so. I hope you enjoy it. And I do have the video with the lyrics because this is a poetry blog so those are pretty important. Enjoy!

Ode to mistakes

I know I made a mistake today.

but I really hope you understand.

I really didnt want to do this to you.

It wasn't like it was planned.

I'm not a perfect person,

but I know you are the same.

So why are we playing these games

always looking for someone to blame.

So why not blame the humanity

that resides within us all.

How about that

to take the fall.

I'm sincerely sorry if your hurt,

but I am human just like you.

So at the end of the day just let everything go.

What else can you really do?

New Poetry

So in the waje of my writers block, I have decided to explore some newer more modern forms of poetry, one being song lyrics. Many people consider that art right? well it is kind of like poetry in the since that it rhymes and has a set structure. So maybe until I get out of this block I can feature a new song every day. Maybe a specific artist every week. Well this week I have decided to pick Mike Posner. Everyone is calling him the new Justin Timberlake, but no one ca beat Justin so. He is sort of new to the scene but already has some really goosd stuff recorded. The song I picked today is called Please Don't Go. I have no idea what album it is from all I know is that I really like it. I have the link below so check it out.

Ode to my life

I have only one life.

And I must say its mighty fine.

Not because its always happy,

but because I get to call it mine.

I love to share with my friends,

but I get to keep this as my own.

And the best part of sharing this life

is that I am never alone.

It is a marvelous gift we have,

to say we have lived today.

It is a cycle of getting and giving,

nothing that is lost will ever stay that way.

With every life lost

a new one will be found.

And that makes living life

the best thing around.

Ode

An ode is a serious poem that has a set structure. It is written for a specific person, place, thing or occasion. Odes are pretty neat because you can write them about anything you want. Fun fact: many of Shakespeare's were made into plays.

Link

Ok yes another link but this picture is so funny. Maybe I take humor in it because I am a naturally messy person or because my mother and grandmother insist everything be spotless all the time, either way still funny. Can you relate?

Broken heart

She was a woman

who,they say, had no heart.

But oddly enough

She died when hers was torn apart.

Autumn

So my dogs love the fall, especially when the leaves are all on the ground. My oldest dog Katy is big into jumping in the leaf piles. A few days ago I was letting them outside to go potty and all I see her her running at a pile of leaves then throwing herself into the center. I assume she saw something small like a rodent or small rabbit. But whatever the case it was really cute and I wish I got it on film.

Epitaph

An Epitaph is a commemorative inscription left on a tomb or gravestone. Some are funny some are sad and some are really nice. They don't have a specific length, but most are relatively short. You could write your own or your family could write one for you.

Sick

I'm sick you see.

But don't pity me.

Your donations are all I need.

So if you feel bad

Quell it with the money you have

in your pockets and purses.

I loose my hair and energy too.

but there is only one thing you can do.

I need your money don't you see,

because i can't get enough from mom and dear daddy.

(These are not serious poems! I don't actually take donating to a sick child this lightly.)

Puppies!!!

OK so I know the only other thing I have on here besides poems are my dogs. Well its not secret I love my dogs, and apparently other people love their dogs so much they have entire blogs dedicated to them. A cute one i found was http://www.thefunnydogs.com/ . You should really check it out. Its pretty adorable.

Burlesque Poetry

This could be interesting. A burlesque poem is one the makes light of a serious subject or treats something serious as humorous. Its like a parody to a song or video. It is also like a satire, which is a sarcastic essay written on a serious matter to prove a point. You can look up a parody on YouTube.com to a lot of songs you enjoy and find that the parodies are just as amusing.

Who says old dogs can't learn new tricks?

So my oldest dog Katy is learning a new trick. She is finally learning to roll over! Well she has part of it down. She rolls on her side but I have to push her all the way over. Now Jake on the other hand grumbles and moans every time we've( my family and I) tried to teach him to roll over so I;m thinking that is not going to happen for him. But Katy has potential. So I'll keep you updated on her progress. She's so smart its scary sometimes.

Katy

So it happens to be Friday and its my dog day!! Last week I introduced you to my dog Jake. This week you are going to learn a little bit about my dog Katy. She is the oldest and darkest of the bunch. She is about nine years old, compared to Jake who is five, and is a dark chocolate color. We got her as our first family pet. She was actually a surprise to me also. I came home from school one day and there she was sitting on a chair in our living room, wet from the bath she just had. she wasn't as young as Jake was when we got her so we didn't really have much of a puppy stage with her. We got her at about six months old. Originally we thought she was a chocolate lab puppy so we bought her a really big food bowl and watering dish. But as the time past and she didn't grow too much taller we figured out that she was a terrier mix. But watching her you can really see the terrier traits she does have. one being she loves the chase. Anytime a small animal( or a large one, whatever she happens to spot) comes through our back yard she goes nuts barking, and fogs up our back door. She is definitely our watch dog. So what does she look like? Well she is small, only about thirty pounds and comes to my knee( I'm short) which puts her at about twenty inches tall. Not our smallest dog but certainly our smartest. She learns new things every day and always finds ways of getting out of trouble, like laying at your feet or sprinting to you when you have to use the stern voice on her. She may be naughty but she is so darn cute with her big brown eyes it is really hard to get mad at her. Now over the years I have grown a bit of an immunity to her charms but no one else has so I guess its for her own good. She is the only dog we paid for but I can truthfully say she was worth every penny.

Acrostic

Ok these soud like they could be a lot of fun! An acrostic poem is a poem where the first letter in each line in order makes a word or phrase.
EX: -Sam has
-A bike that
-Might be just like mine.

The first letter in each of the sentences spelled out the name Sam. Normally the word or phrase is relavent to teh poem but doesn't have to be.
I hope you try writting these! They don't have to rhyme or anything :) get creative!!

Golden

A good man is golden.
He is worth any price.
A good woman will refine his gold.
With a rock that sparkels like ice.
They will be beautiful together
and will make a ring.
It will be their life and their love.
It will be their everything.
They will make a promise '
to wear every day.
They will stay side by side
Never to doubt or sway.
This gold is for everyone
and anyone to own.
It is two becoming one,
Never made alone.

You are my balloon.
You lift me higher then a kite can fly.
You are my wings.
You never fail to satisfy,
My need for adventure or my desire to explore.
And with this said I can ask no more,
Of your arms like a safety net or hands of gold
Which are something special and mine to hold.
Your eyes are blue waters
when life brings a drought
Your heart in a comfort when I doubt.
Say no more but say no less.
I have something to confess.
I am nothing with out all these things.
So thank you for everything especially your wings.

Jake

So the dog thing. You don't know much about my dogs as of now which makes m think I should start the next three Fridays with intros about them. Today is all about Jake. He is the biggest of the three weighing in at a whooping 85 pounds. He is pure bred but no one has seemed to have heard of his breed of dogs. He is a Mountain Cur which is bred to hunt bears but you wouldn't know it to look at him. He might not be very small but his heart is very well matched with his size. He might not be the bravest one of the bunch( that would be Katy. You'll meet her next week)but he really does have a heart as gold as his fur. That's not to say he doesn't have his flaws though. He is loving to the point of bubble invasion. If he wants you to look at him or pet him he makes sure there is no possible way you could not see him. He will make sure he's heard and that you don't ignore him. Its cute when you're just relaxing and not very busy but its not so cute if you're really tired or trying to get homework done. But I do love my dog. He was originally bought for me when i was about nine. We had gotten our first dog about three years before and i wanted another puppy so I begged for weeks and weeks. Finally my parents did something they rarely ever do, they gave in!! so about two weeks later my dad came home with a happy healthy bouncy ix week old puppy with huge feet and floppy ears(which now don't flop so much). I was so happy that we finally got another puppy! And he was a good pick. Hes a solid part of my family and a protector of the house we live in.I would trade him for anything.

Dogs today

So I feel like my blog can be a little monotonous and with that said I have decided every Friday( or every other, still not sure yet) I will write a little something about one of my three dogs. They all are very different when it comes to size, shape and color. But the one thing they have in common is my heart <3 :) . I love my dogs and they can be so so funny sometimes. Lets hope this goes well!

Analogy Poetry

This kind of poetry sounds like its going to be a challenge. Analogy poetry is relating two or more things in a poem that are otherwise unalike. Like relating a balloon and a horse. They have nothing in common but you could relate riding a horse to being lifted away by a balloon. A good poem to read is Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost. Anyhow, I like the style, the only trouble I can see is trying to write them. Lets hope they turn out alright!

You

I cannot fly.

I cannot run or jump.

I have no special places to take you.

You couldn't pick me out in a crowd.

But I know you.

I know how you are.

I know what you do because I do it too.

I am just like you.

Except you don't notice me.

I would ask you why but now I see.

Its not that I can't compare to you but you can't compare to me.

So I'll keep watching.

Sad as it may be.

I know we would be friends but you won't notice me.

The Best

The mirror is no friend of mine.

It tells me lies and makes up stories that aren't true.

It makes me cry sometimes when I'm alone.

But you show up just when I need you.

It's a good thing I have you around.

You tell me no lies.

You keep a smile on my face.

You show me how to look in the mirror again

and see whats really there.

You are the best.

And best of all,you are my best friend.

Lost Girl

Lost little girl, alone, wearing a black dress.
Where did you come from?

Can I take you back there?
You don't belong here and the sun is setting.
When it is dark, the beasts roam the streets and they will take you away.
They will take you back to where they live and make you like them.
You are so pretty, lost little girl.

You shouldn't ruin your dress.

Let me help you find your way home
.

Blank Verse

So I found this really cool web site that has a bunch of different poetry types on it and I really like it. The site is http://www.types-of-poertry.org if you want to look this up. I think it's where I'll be getting most of my ideas for types of poems. Some are actually pretty funny. The one I'm starting with is probably the most popular types of poetry written and read. It's called blank verse. It's a poem that is whatever you want it to be. It is written in an unrhymed, unlyrical pattern. It doesn't have a specific length. And, funny fact, this is the way William Shakespear wrote most of his plays.

Decision

So I've decided I'm going to write different types of poetry for the next few weeks, or maybe months. I can have an over view of what each poem entails and how it is written then write a few of my own. I know I haven't put much of my own photos on the blog but I have a few I'm going to try t get on here today. I'm going to start the whole new poem types today too so this should be interesting. Tell me what you think, if its good or not. Maybe you could even suggest your own favorite type of poetry! :)

Until the End

I will walk on
Until my feet bleed
Until my shoes fall of
But no matter what the cost
I will walk on

This is the last Haiku. I just wanted to try out my own pattern.

And the continuing will end soon

So as I keep reading these different Haikus I'm finding that they are whatever you want them to be. They must have a pattern and most of them have the original pattern but I've seen some that are really long and pretty interesting. I'm starting to really enjoy them! Well I guess its not exactly all about what I think. What do you think? Give opinions or create your own Haiku and post it up here! I'd love to see your stuff.

And still continuing

How lost that I am

here in this beautiful mess;

I live here with you.

OK this is the 5-7-5 which I wrote and like best. But some of the time when a poem is translated from Japanese to English the syllables didn't carry over exactly the way it was meant to sound so you get more syllables then originally planned.

Haiku continued

OK it seems I may have been a little wrong about the format of a haiku. Yes, they are still very Japanese but it appears to me that they all don't need to have a 5-7-5 syllable format. They just need a pattern. So i guess that frees up your writing abilities which is a good thing.

Haiku!! (..... sounds like a cheer)

For the next few days I've decide I'm going to write Haikus. I'm not huge into Japanese artwork and literature but a poem is a poem and variety is a good thing.

- Haiku is one of the most important traditional forms of Japanese poetry.Haiku is a 17 syllable verse form consisting of thee metrical units of 5,7,5 and five syllables.

He Created the sun and He created the moon.
I have created this blog
which is made for me and for you.

to create and explore.

I hope it is successful
and brings someone a smile,
